This course is for therapists working with clients with neurological conditions where memory may be an impairment, for example, MS, ABI, PD, stroke. It provides participants with an advanced understanding of memory impairment, how this impacts on functional performance, and considers assessment and intervention strategies.
Course Aims/Objectives
Develop an understanding of the components of normal memory
Explore a number of current neuropsychological theories and models
Develop an understanding of relevant neuroanatomy
Consider differential diagnosis of memory impairment for people with neurological dysfunction
Critically evaluate the use of functional and standardised assessments of memory
Review the evidence base for assessment and intervention for memory impairment
Devise intervention plans for case studies
